Our goal is to implement the highest educational and developmental standards together with our full commitment to children’s happiness and well being. Smart is officially open in December 2016 and we are accepting the entry applications for children between one year and school age.
Smart nursery school is accredited to organize and implement an overall developmental program in education and upbringing as issued by the relevant Ministry of Canton Sarajevo, and it will be the first one in the region to apply the “Reggio Emilia” approach to the education of pre-school children.
Smart Team
The requirements for becoming a member of Smart’s professional team that will be in charge of children’s needs in the nursery school include: university degree, work experience, pedagogical skills and enthusiasm necessary for continuous learning and acquiring new expert skills, foreign languages, as well as other skills, all of them aimed at achieving the best quality of children’s education and upbringing..
The “Reggio Emilia” Philosophy
This method of early education was developed in 1963 by Loris Malaguzzi, teacher, educator and parent. The knowledge that children’s individuality is formed during the early years of their development lead to a program based on the principles of respect, responsibility and communion, through searching and discovering things in a supporting and enriching environment based on child’s interests.
The Reggio Emilia pre-school program has been introduced in many schools and nurseries in the world. The Reggio Emilia approach to teaching young children places their natural development and close relations to the environment in the centre of its philosophy.
Malaguzzi bases his pedagogical approach on human relations that children continuously require and that are attended to through their relations with other children, family, educators, as well as their social and natural environment. The educators are required to get to know each child as well as they can so to be able to support them in their search and discoveries.
Smart Space
Smart is located in a building designed and constructed especially for pre-school education.
The building has approximately 1,500 square meters (not including the open terraces of about 400m2) of space adapted to the requirements of children’s education and with all associated elements, in full compliance of the standards and regulations of the Canton Sarajevo Ministry of Education.
The building includes a garage, four floors connected by staircases and a panoramic elevator, and open spaces especially designed in view of maximum safety of the children.
The overall space is transparent and radiant, with playful windows. The toilets are specially adjusted to the age of each group, there is a wardrobe, a dining hall, a gym, a number of technical and service rooms for the stuff, a room for the paediatrician and the nurse, etc.
Smart Safety
We have dedicated special attention to the safety of the building for the purpose of maximum protection of our children whose interests are always in the first place.
It is important to highlight that the everyday activities of the nursery take place only within the protected area of our facilities, and that unnoticed exit or access to children from the outside are not possible.
The building is guarded 24 hours a day – which includes a security guard and video surveillance, and it has an alarm/intervention fire protection and antitheft system.
